**Italian Athlete Calls the Incident “Poetic” and Suggests Romantic Gesture After Losing Ring in the Seine**
During the opening of the 2024 Olympics in Paris, Italian athlete Gianmarco Tamberi lost his wedding ring in the Seine River. The ring slipped off his finger and fell into the water as he was waving the Italian flag from a boat with other athletes. Later, Tamberi apologized to his wife, Chiara Bontempi Tamberi, and proposed a romantic gesture to make up for the loss.
In his Instagram post, Tamberi expressed his regret but described the mishap as “poetic.” He added that if he had to invent a story about where he lost the ring, he could never have come up with such a poetic situation.
“I think there is a huge poetic side to what happened yesterday. And if you want, we can throw your [ring] into this river as well, so they will be together forever, and we will have another reason, as you always asked, to renew our vows and get married again. I love you, my love. Let this be a good sign to return home with even more gold!!!” the athlete wrote.
Fans of the athlete were deeply touched by the story, calling it the most romantic situation that could only happen in a movie:
– “Only you can turn something like this into something romantic.”
– “Now it’s your turn to win gold and get material for a new ring.”
– “How can she not forgive you now?”
– “Champion in everything. A role model in sports and in life!”
– “This post gave me incredible motivation. I think I’ll get married soon.”
