At 24, Australian woman Turia Pitt had a life many envied – beauty, budding modeling career, and a beloved boyfriend. However, on September 2, 2011, everything changed dramatically.
During a 100-kilometer cross-country race, a sudden fire engulfed the area, trapping Turia and others.
In a desperate bid to survive, she ran through the flames, sustaining severe burns – 65% of her skin was affected, and she lost fingers on both hands.
Throughout her arduous recovery, Turia’s partner Michael remained by her side, eventually proposing despite her disfigurement.
Despite initial fears, Turia resumed sports, achieving remarkable feats like completing a half marathon and raising funds for plastic surgery treatments.
Her resilience and courage garnered widespread admiration, leading to accolades like being named Woman of the Year and gracing magazine covers.
Turia and Michael are now parents, and despite her physical changes, Turia remains vibrant and active, embracing life to the fullest.
