Following the ups and downs of past relationships, Valerie Bertinelli has confirmed that she’s found love anew, taking to Instagram with a heartfelt post that leaves little doubt she’s off the market.
At 63, Valerie, who divorced her ex-husband Tom Vitale two years ago and lost her first husband, Eddie Van Halen, four years prior, made her relationship Instagram official last Friday. Captioning a selfie with lyrics from Taylor Swift’s song “So High School,” which is believed to be about her current beau Travis Kelce, Bertinelli wrote, ” I’ll drink what you think and I’m high from smokin’ your jokes all damn night .”
According to Entertainment Tonight, Valerie’s new partner is writer Mike Goodnough, known for his popular blog under the pseudonym the Hoarse Whisperer.
Earlier this month, Bertinelli stirred up speculation when she revealed to USA TODAY, “I’ve met someone. And I’m incredibly grateful for him. It’s unlike any relationship that I’ve ever experienced with a man. I don’t want to say too much, but I feel incredibly blessed and lucky to have met him. I was going to die with my six cats and my dog and be incredibly happy doing it.”
Confirming the rumors, Goodnough addressed his relationship with Bertinelli in an essay titled “Rumors, Rumors, Rumors…” on his Substack this week. He humorously recounted asking “Ms. Bertinelli” in a “reporterly voice” about the rumor of them dating, to which she allegedly responded, “It’s true. I totally am. You’re my boyfriend.”
In her newly released cookbook, “Indulge,” Bertinelli candidly discussed her marriage to Eddie Van Halen. “Though we got divorced, Ed and I never stopped loving each other,” she wrote, reflecting on their relationship. “Who knows, if not for cancer, we might have had a second wind,” she added, acknowledging it as wishful thinking.
Regarding Goodnough, Valerie revealed that she began following him on social media in 2016 or 2017, with him reciprocating the follow in 2018. Their communication seemingly started after Valerie’s divorce from Tom Vitale in 2022. Describing Goodnough as “a really super funny, incredibly talented writer,” Valerie expressed her admiration for him.
Speaking to PEOPLE Magazine, Bertinelli shared, “I’m in love. It’s a seesaw of emotions because I was adamant I was never falling in love again.” Well, we’re thrilled to see Valerie embracing love once more!
