Clint Eastwood has had a remarkable career spanning over seven decades. He’s renowned for his quiet demeanor, a man of few words who tends to keep to himself. However, his recent extended absence from the public eye has raised concerns among his friends.
Reports suggest that the actor may be contemplating retirement from Hollywood.
“Clint occasionally talks about retiring, but what’s more troubling for him is the feeling that the movie industry has moved on from him,” an insider revealed. “He’s had a 50-year partnership with Warner Bros., but there are now new people in charge, and they were very disappointed when Clint’s last movie, ‘Cry Macho,’ didn’t perform well at the box office.
“While he was pleased to receive approval from Warner for his new film, he isn’t counting on it happening again.”
The 93-year-old actor is slated to film “Juror No. 2” with Toni Collette and Nicholas Hoult, with production set to begin this summer.
“He wants to make this movie his swan song and exit on a high note,” the insider added. “Some believed ‘Cry Macho’ would be his last film two years ago because he appeared frail even then, but the movie didn’t receive a warm reception. So, Clint is rallying the troops for one final effort, hoping for a blockbuster.”
“I never reached that day when I said I’d retire. I’ve flirted with the idea a lot lately, but every so often, a script comes along, and I think, ‘That’s a challenge I haven’t tackled before,’” the actor has said.
“It’s quite a lot to take on for a man in his nineties,” the source emphasized. “People are genuinely concerned about his health. He’s the director, but he’s also involved in every other aspect, like casting, and he’ll likely compose the score, as he’s done in his other films.”
Clint Eastwood hasn’t been seen in public for over 450 days, leading to worries about his health taking a turn for the worse.
“Clint has always enjoyed excellent health and remained active despite his advancing age. However, his recent absence from the public eye has raised concerns among many in Hollywood,” the source shared. “It’s difficult to imagine him in anything other than fine form, but Father Time catches up with all of us.”
