In addition to updating her fans on her health, Celine Dion recently announced that she will be moving up some of her tour dates to 2024.
Dion announced that she is postponing the start of her tour to put her health first.
In a moving video posted on her official Instagram page on Thursday morning, singer Celine Dion revealed that she had a “very rare neurological disorder called stiff-person syndrome.”
Celine wrote on Instagram to share the news:
It’s been difficult for me to talk about my health problems and to tackle these obstacles because I’ve been dealing with them for a while. She posted, saying, “It hurts to tell you that I won’t be ready to resume my European tour in February.”
Stiff-person syndrome is described as “a rare autoimmune disorder of motion that affects the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord)”. The Cleveland Clinic states that the first symptom of this condition is a tightening of the trunk muscles, which eventually progresses to the development of stiffness and rigidity in the legs and other muscles in the body.
She stated that the spasms she has been experiencing, which are a sign of the illness, affect every aspect of her everyday life, including singing and walking.
She continued by saying that she has stiff person syndrome, a neurological ailment that is causing her to experience excruciating spasms. She is naturally taking her time to concentrate on her recuperation as a result.
About one person out of every million is affected by this illness, according to the Cleveland Clinic. Its cause is unclear, and there is no recognized cure for it.
Dion said that her medical team will help her manage her symptoms so that she may resume performing.
