Following the unexpected passing of fitness guru Richard Simmons, new information has surfaced.
According to TMZ, the 76-year-old slipped in his bathroom the night before he tragically passed away and was advised to get help. He declined, but added that he might give it a shot the next day.
He was discovered not responding the following day.
It was reported Friday night that Simmons fell in his bathroom. Prior to falling, Simmons reportedly complained of feeling lightheaded.
The night of Simmons’ birthday, his housekeeper assisted him in getting up and recommended he receive medical assistance, but Simmons refused to leave his home. On Saturday, he would think about visiting a physician instead.
That was the last time anyone heard from him after they helped him into bed.
One day after turning 76 years old, on Saturday, July 13, Simmons passed away in his Los Angeles home.
At approximately ten in the morning on Saturday, his housekeeper discovered him lying on the floor beside his bed. At the scene, he was declared deceased.
Officers have no suspicions of foul play.
His formal cause of death has been postponed despite the completion of an autopsy; hence, further testing and an inquiry are required before a conclusive cause of death can be determined.
The “Sweatin’ to the Oldies” host revealed he had skin cancer in March 2024 and told People he was “grateful” to be “alive for another day” one week before his 76th birthday.
Richard, you are loved by us! We shall miss you terribly.
