The woman shares more about her intricate life with her dearest person, who brought her into this world. She expressed, «She truly made my life unbearable. Her constant criticism and mockery about my weight took a toll on my mental health, leaving me feeling depressed and overwhelmed. I could never hold down a job when I was younger, because of self-esteem issues and my depression, but I was constantly labeled as lazy.”
After a significant turning point, the woman finally felt a sense of relief and liberation. She said, «When I was 21, I decided to leave home and live with some friends. During that time, I focused on improving my mental and physical well-being and finding a good job for myself.»
The woman’s self-esteem has greatly improved. She enthusiastically exclaims, «I feel incredible now! After four years, I’ve built an incredible group of friends and found a supportive boyfriend who is there for me in every way.»
In her narrative, the woman shares that she has had no communication with her mother for the past four years. Additionally, there are certain family members with whom she does not maintain any contact. One of the contributing factors to this situation is the fact that these individuals consistently sided with her mother and believed her version of events. Her mother portrayed her as an awful child, but little did she know the extent of her own capacity for cruelty.
The OP has a deep connection with certain family members, who have been a source of support for her. She shared, «I only communicate with my grandparents, who were present when she mistreated me prior to my relocation. They made the decision to distance themselves from her, as they preferred to avoid any family conflicts. And I also kept in touch with a cousin who witnessed this when we were younger.»
The woman expresses her disbelief at the outrageous lies told by her mom. She wrote, «For those four years, my mom kept lying about me. I gained weight, I didn’t have a job, I was homeless, I tried to break into her house several times, I had hurt her feelings, etc.»
The woman shares her story, describing a recent family event that left a lasting impact on her and taught her mother an important lesson. In her writing, she mentioned that her grandfather recently contacted her and informed her about a virtual family reunion happening in January. He encouraged her to participate and prove everyone wrong.
Also, «my cousin told me to sit in my house where my boyfriend would be because I still couldn’t get a boyfriend,» she says.

This led to others questioning my mom, but she brushed off their questions and came up with an excuse that I had undergone some ‘work’.»
The conflict began right away. «That’s when I said no, this is me for three years, all the news you were getting about me was from the woman, who, like many of you, I haven’t talked to in years. This woman lied, she has put me down her whole life, and she still does it because that’s all she can do.»
As the woman continues her story, she recalls the moment her boyfriend casually strolled into the kitchen, causing quite a commotion among everyone present. To add to the excitement, she mentions how her boyfriend nonchalantly waved in the background. «My mom literally had a death stare going on.”
She shared, «There was a lot of speculation about my mom, but she chose not to respond to anyone. Instead, she confidently stated, ‘I don’t owe anyone an explanation,’ before gracefully leaving the meeting.»
The mother experienced a great deal of pain during the lesson. Later, the woman said, «My cousin told me that her mom told her that my mom had a full-on meltdown because I had the nerve to sit there and be all smug. She said I should have stayed away because now there are problems in the family, and it’s my fault.»
However, this eventually circles back to her feeling embarrassed and facing the consequences of her dishonesty.
