It appears that there may be more to Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson than just the fact that they are two renowned, beloved actors who have been mainstays on our screens for decades.

The two have been good friends for a long time and co-starred in the popular crime thriller True Detective in 2014.

They had a close, almost brotherly relationship in that play, and both of them received high praise for their individual performances. But would the striking sense of realism have resulted from an amazing truth that neither of them was aware of at the time?

According to Metro, McConaughey suggested that the two could be siblings after learning something from his mother that seems makes the theory hard to reject.

The 53-year-old Dallas Buyers Club actor claimed that by acknowledging that she knew Harrelson’s father well, his mother had given rise to the notion that the two may have had sexual encounters at some point in the past.

During an appearance on Kelly Ripa’s Let’s Talk Off Camera podcast, McConaughey revealed that, while he and Harrelson’s families were vacationing in Greece, his dear old mom had revealed the possible bombshell.

The actor from Interstellar claimed that one day the conversation veered to the subject of how frequently he and Harrelson are confused for each other in pictures.

“We’re sitting around talking about how close we are and our families a few years ago in Greece,” McConaughey remarked.

Additionally, my mother is present and remarks, “Woody, I knew your dad.” My mom left several ellipses, and everyone knew about them after she “knew.” A loaded K-N-E-W was present.

Following that discovery, McConaughey made the decision to investigate his family’s past in more detail. It turns out that the 53-year-old learned that Harrelson’s father was on furlough during his parents’ second divorce.

McConaughey is not persuaded despite the 63-year-old Harrelson’s suggestion that the two seek DNA tests.

“You know, Woody finds it a little easier to say, ‘Come on, let’s do DNA tests,’ because he has nothing to lose.” McConaughey stated.

“It’s a little more difficult for me because he’s asking me to consider the possibility that, after 53 years of believing that, my dad might not actually be my dad.’” I now have a little more stake in the outcome.

Harrelson learned through a radio broadcast that his father had been sentenced to 15 years in jail in 1973 for the murder of a grain dealer.

According to the Hunger Games actress, The Guardian

While waiting for a woman to pick me up from school and helping my mother, I was listening to the radio when it discussed Charles V. Harrelson and his murder trial, among other things. As I sat there, I thought there couldn’t be another Charles V. Harrelson. Really, that’s my father!
