A plane passenger caused outrage after being caught watching something controversial on their in-flight screen – leading some to claim they need to be “jailed”.
There are many ways people can irk their fellow passengers on an airplane – from hogging the armrests to taking off their shoes and socks, everyone has encountered a fellow flyer that just doesn’t get the etiquette of how to behave in the air.
One plane passenger went viral after fellow travelers were left horrified after seeing what they were watching on their screen.
Was it something NSFW or inappropriate? No, this passenger just happened to be the only one not watching the Super Bowl back in 2023 as it happened while on a plane during the game.
The man in question appeared to be the only one who didn’t make the most of the in-flight entertainment and watch the iconic sporting event, instead choosing to watch the movie Hitch.
The 2005 movie stars Will Smith as a professional “date doctor” who helps men land the woman of their dreams – so maybe the viewer was just down bad and hoping to pick up some tips.
Another passenger took a photo inside the plane, showing that all but one screen was tuned to the Super Bowl as the Kansas City Chiefs triumphed over the Philadelphia Eagles with a final score of 38-35.
He captioned the snap: “The 1 dude watching Hitch on this plane should be jailed. A menace to society.”
Others were also suitably offended by the choice to boycott one of the biggest sporting events of the year to watch a film that is nearly 20 years old, writing: “Hitch is my favourite rom com and even I think he should be jailed for this lmao.”
Another added: “Embarrassing for him. Watch the game!”
One joked: “he’s just trying to find love, give him a break,” while another added: “Dude has some exciting plans when he lands and needs to be ready!”
Over 100 million Americans tuned in to watch the event live last year – including the majority of those on that particular plane. And who knew you could even watch live television on those in-flight consoles?!
For those less into the sports aspect of the Super Bowl, it was still a pretty huge night thanks to the Halftime Show, which marked Rihanna’s first performance in seven years.
The singer performed a 12-minute medley of some of her biggest hits while raised above the stadium on a perspex platform.
As well as delighting fans with some classic RiRi tracks, the icon also used the momentous occasion to casually announce that she was pregnant with her second baby with boyfriend A$AP Rocky.
Fans began speculating after Rihanna was seen with a bump in her red stage outfit, before rubbing her stomach with her hand.
The happy news was later confirmed by her representative who revealed that the rumors were true and a second baby was on the way.
