Well, this is a celebrity breakup that we didn’t see coming. On Tuesday, news broke that Channing Tatum and Zoë Kravitz have called off their engagement after spending the last three years together. Though we don’t have much insight into what may have led to the end of their relationship just yet, the timing certainly seems interesting.

This famous couple has called it quits.
People was the first to report the news on Tuesday after multiple sources confirmed that their relationship was over three years after they started dating each other. Recently, they’ve even worked together on the movie Blink Twice — Zoë’s directorial debut — so it seemed like things were going well between the couple, even behind the scenes.
Zoë and Channing got engaged around this time last year.
Though Channing and Zoë did keep the finer details of their relationship private, last October, sources confirmed that the couple had gotten engaged last fall. At the time, Zoe had been spotted wearing an engagement ring when she and her then-fiancé were photographed leaving a Halloween party together.
Channing shared the news of his next project with Zoë the same day their breakup was confirmed.
On his Instagram Stories, Channing shared a link to a Deadline story about an upcoming movie he’d be starring in with Zoë, along with other actors including Riley Keough and Cate Blanchett.
The movie is an alien invasion comedy called Alpha Gang, and it’s set to start shooting next spring.

Just last month, Channing shared a sweet tribute to Zoë.
Alongside a photo of Zoë asleep with her head in his lap, Channing bragged about how hard she had worked on Blink Twice.
“She pour’d every single ounce of her into this film. I’m so proud to stand ten toes down for her, this film and everyone in it. forever,” he wrote in his caption. “Knowing what it took to make it. No one will ever know. Thank you for finding me and seeing me. I got you forever. Me and you back to back against it all. I’ll never blink. Let’s go.”
So far, Channing and Zoë are staying silent.
Though multiple news outlets are reporting their split, the former couple themselves have yet to issue a formal announcement confirming the news. Here’s hoping that even post-breakup, they’re able to stay friends — after all, they have a film to shoot together in just a few months.
