A man who has been anointed as the “Living Nostradamus” has shared haunting predictions about the US election.
Millions of Americans are heading to their local polling station to cast their votes for the next president of the United States.
Vice President Kamala Harris, who is the Democratic candidate, and former President Donald Trump, the Republican candidate, each need at least 270 electoral votes to win.

With the two top candidates locked in one of the closest presidential races in history, a so-called psychic named Athos Salomé has weighed on what will happen if Harris is successful.
While the 38-year-old Brazilian – who is reportedly credited for predicting the Microsoft global outage, 2020 pandemic, and Queen Elizabeth’s death – has not predicted a winner, he has alarmingly claimed that there will be an “organized and systematic reaction” from Trump and the Republican Party, per Daily Mail.
This will be similar to when the 78-year-old former leader lost the 2020 presidential election to Joe Biden and falsely alleged that there was widespread voter fraud.
In an interview with the publication, Salomé claimed that there will be a strategic move by Republicans in power who will contest the federal government on their decision.
“In 2024, Trump’s defeat will not be a simple political farewell; it will be the start of a coordinated resistance, something unprecedented. If he loses, he probably won’t accept the result as legitimate,” he said, cited by the outlet.

The seer believes the Republican candidate and his team will try to challenge the loss in the courts, and will hope to rely on the Supreme Court, which includes a majority of Republican-appointed judges, to support their cause.
He suggested the party may try to “block and slow down measures by the new president,” and if victorious, it may cause an “institutionalized fragmentation” of society, leading to misinformation spread across the media.
Salomé added that there is a threat of a “parallel reality” where civilians will believe that the newly elected government is “illegitimate, corrupt and a direct threat to true American values”.

The “living Nostradamus” believes that the results will create a “crisis of public confidence” in American institutions, and will estrange those who think they live in a “camouflaged dictatorship”.
“The consequence will be profound alienation, where millions of American citizens will completely disconnect from traditional sources of information, becoming immune to any attempt at reconciliation with the elected government,” he said.
Furthermore, he cautioned that there is a risk of disruption in particular states where uncertainties run highest, and this could result in civil insubordination against the government.
“These states, by becoming less responsive to the federal government, could begin a process of decentralization that directly challenges the country’s federal structure,” he continued. “This environment of extreme polarization and distrust of democratic institutions could mark the beginning of an era of fragmentation in the United States, where the very concept of the ‘United States of America’ is threatened.”
“The unity of the country will be at the mercy of a leader who, even out of power, has a unique and unprecedented influence, capable of molding the reality of a significant fraction of the American population,” he concluded.

Eighteen-year-old Connor Barba and his mother, Megan Barnett, were involved in a tragic car collision that claimed Connor’s life and left his mother seriously injured, PEOPLE reports.
Connor, described by family as an “outstanding young man” filled with joy and a bright smile, was said to be thrilled about attending the Monday Night Football matchup between the Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The teen had received the tickets from his mom as a birthday surprise, a moment captured in a statement shared through a GoFundMe page dedicated to supporting his family.
“Megan surprised Connor with tickets to a Monday Night Football game between the Chiefs and Bucs,” the statement reads. “Unfortunately, they were involved in a head-on collision on the way to Kansas City that tragically took Connor’s life.
“Megan is currently in the ICU in Tulsa and has many injuries that will require extensive recovery. We are asking for your support to help with medical bills and funeral costs.”
Tragically, the celebration was cut short on Saturday, November 2, as they traveled through southeast Kansas.
According to a Kansas Highway Patrol crash report, their vehicle was hit by a Chevrolet Camaro that crossed into their lane on U.S. 169 near Cherryvale. The Camaro’s driver, 45-year-old Joseph Savage of Coffeyville, also died in the incident.
Megan is currently fighting for her life in the intensive care unit of a Tulsa hospital.
The GoFundMe set up for the Barba family has raised over $90,000, reflecting the community’s outpouring of support.

Colin Barnett, Connor’s uncle, recounted to KAKE-TV that Connor’s quick reaction to swerve and brake might have saved his mother’s life, even though it led to him bearing the brunt of the impact.
“Connor swerved right in a way and slammed on the brakes as hard as he could,” the devastated uncle said. “When Connor did that, he took the full brunt of the [Camaro].”
The uncle also shared Connor’s anticipation of seeing his favorite player, Baker Mayfield, in action, while his mom looked forward to possibly seeing Taylor Swift at the game, supporting her boyfriend, Chiefs player Travis Kelce.
“He was an outstanding young man,” Connor’s uncle added. “He had a lot of light. He had an incredible amount of joy and an incredible smile.”
Our thoughts go out to the families and loved ones of those involved in this tragedy.

Tiny town of just six voters has its votes counted – and it was a tie
By stefan armitage
A tiny town has delivered the first results in the 2024 US presidential election.
In the frosty early hours, as November’s chill whispered through the White Mountains of New Hampshire, the quaint village of Dixville Notch upheld its unique tradition: striking the clock at midnight and casting the very first votes in the 2024 US presidential election.

This year, the tiny hamlet, perched on the northern tip near the Canadian border, delivered a perfectly even split: three votes for Kamala Harris and three for Donald Trump — revealing a riveting deadlock that took just 12 minutes to tally.
This tie was a stark contrast to the 2020 elections, where all five Dixville votes had swung unanimously towards Joe Biden.
Remarkably, four of this year’s six voters are registered Republicans, the other two being independents — a dynamic shift noted by the Washington Post. The result resonates with a nation split down the middle, a snapshot of the divided sentiment reverberating across the polls.

Dixville Notch has been an electoral curiosity since 1960, when Neil Tillotson began the tradition of midnight voting at his Balsams Grand Resort Hotel.
This ritual, originally meant to accommodate the schedules of railroad workers in nearby Hart’s Location, turned into a spectacle of early results, offering the first hint of the national electoral mood and attracting the media – eager to broadcast these predawn insights.
While the Dixville vote doesn’t always predict the eventual presidential winner — it famously misfired in 2016 when Hillary Clinton led Trump in this village — the ritual remains a cherished emblem of democratic participation.
This year, all six voters from the village, now residing in the historic hotel, partook in this ritual.

Scott Maxwell, one of the voters, expressed his astonishment at the tie: “I didn’t see that coming,” he confessed to the New York Times, reflecting on his own surprising decision to vote for Trump.
Another voter, Les Otten, emphasized the broader significance of their midnight vote to CNN, saying: “If we can help people get out and understand that voting is an important part of their right as an American citizen, that’s perhaps the key to what we’re doing.”
“Nowhere in the Pledge of Allegiance does it say anything about pledging your allegiance to a person,” Otten added. “And I think at the end of the day, Trump has made it clear that you need to pledge allegiance to him, and he alone can fix this, and that is as anti-democratic as I can understand.”
As the rest of America slept, Dixville Notch cast its votes in the glow of tradition, continuing to serve as a fascinating, though tiny, bellwether for the national vote.

What happens if there’s a tie in the 2024 presidential election
By stefan armitage
As Americans cast their votes in the 2024 presidential election, a nail-biting scenario looms with the possibility – albeit slim.
But with the run-up to this election being one of the most unprecedented in history – with assassination attempts, a sitting president standing down, and a new Democratic presidential nominee named – anything could happen.

So, what would happen in the event of an Electoral College tie between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump?
This political cliffhanger could see both candidates locked at 269 votes each, just one shy of the 270 needed to clinch the presidency.
So, what is the Electoral College?
It’s the system set by the U.S. Constitution for selecting the president and vice president every four years. Each state gets a number of electors equal to its total number of Senators and Representatives, with an additional three electors from the District of Columbia, as granted by the 23rd Amendment.
This makes up a total of 538 electors, hence the possibility of a 269-269 split.

Historic Precedents and Hypothetical Scenarios
The idea of an Electoral College tie isn’t just theoretical. The history books show us that in 1800, Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr ended up in a tie, thrusting the decision into the House of Representatives, which chose Jefferson as president.
More recently, in 1824, no candidate secured a majority, leading to John Quincy Adams being selected as president by the House, despite Andrew Jackson having won more electoral votes.
Today, potential pathways to a 269-269 tie could arise if Trump captures key “Blue Wall” states along with a couple of others like Georgia or North Carolina, while Harris holds onto states like Wisconsin and flips Arizona and Nevada.

The Role of the House and the Senate
If the 2024 election results in a tie, the process for breaking it is spelled out in the 12th Amendment.
The newly elected House of Representatives would decide the president, with each state’s delegation having one vote. The majority of 26 is needed to win.
Currently, Republicans control 26 state delegations, which could favor Trump. However, this could shift depending on the results of the 2024 Congressional elections.

Simultaneously, the vice president would be chosen by the Senate, where each senator casts one vote. This could potentially lead to the president and vice president being from different parties, a true rarity in American politics.
What’s at Stake?
An Electoral College tie would thrust the U.S. into uncharted political waters, certainly a high-drama end to an already contentious election cycle. It underscores the unique, sometimes controversial, aspects of American electoral mechanics and the ongoing debates surrounding them.

As unlikely as it may be, the possibility of a 269-269 tie adds an extra layer of suspense to the 2024 election, reminding voters and candidates alike of the unpredictable nature of politics.

Mississippi mom is arrested after backing out of ‘suicide pact’ and leaving 10-year-old daughter to overdose
By Asiya Ali
On July 6, Ocean Springs officers responded to reports of a child overdosing at the Studio 6 Motel on Bienville Boulevard.
When first responders arrived, they found Brittney Leigh Hensley and a young girl unconscious, as reported by the Ocean Springs Weekly Record.

When authorities searched the motel room, they discovered several unknown capsules and empty prescription medication bottles in a green backpack near the little girl, whose name has not been released. They also located a medication bottle that was allegedly prescribed to the child’s mother.
Hensley and her daughter were transported separately to the Ocean Springs Hospital by ambulance and were treated by Emergency Room physicians.
The daughter was then airlifted to USA Women’s and Children’s Hospital shortly after. She has thankfully regained consciousness.

According to the Biloxi Sun Herald, the young girl disclosed to the police that she and her mother agreed to take the medication as part of a “suicide pact”.
It is alleged that the mom decided not to follow through with the pact after her daughter took the drugs. She instead fled Mississippi before speaking with police investigators and officials with Child Protection Services regarding the criminal allegations.
Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers put out an alert on Facebook for civilians to be on the lookout for her.
On October 15, the page reported that Hensley had been taken into custody by the Huntsville Police Department on behalf of the Ocean Springs Police Department on a warrant for “Felonious Child Abuse” by poisoning.
“She had this suicide pact with her daughter,” Ocean Springs Police Chief Ryan Lemaire told the publication. “The momma started freaking out when her daughter wouldn’t wake up.”
Hensley was apprehended by cops three months after the horrific incident. They tracked her down in Huntsville, Alabama, where she was staying with relatives, and detained her.
She was extradited to Jackson County Adult Detention Center in Mississippi. Per court records, the mom is being held on a $500,000 bond. It is unclear if she has a lawyer.
Meanwhile, her 10-year-old child was taken into Mississippi CPS custody, where she remains, as reported by Live 5 News.
Ocean Springs Police Deputy Chief Dye told PEOPLE that it’s always difficult working a case that involves children. “Any time we’re dealing with a child in a situation like this, it is very tough. It pulls on our heartstrings,” Dye told the outlet.
“No one wants to see a child hurt,” he said, adding that cops involved in the case have children of their own so child abuse cases “are always a little bit harder on us”.

Mississippi man tragically dies after being ‘buried under hot asphalt’ while working on truck
By James Kay
A tragic accident resulted in a Mississippi man being “buried under hot asphalt” after his truck malfunctioned.
The incident occurred on Monday when 41-year-old Darrell Sheriff was working on a hydraulic line underneath a dump truck at AJ Materials in Jackson, per the New York Post.

As he was doing the work, the tailgate suddenly opened, releasing a heavy load of smoldering asphalt onto him.
When used for paving, asphalt is combined with aggregates like gravel, sand, and stone to create “asphalt concrete” or “blacktop”.
This mixture is heated to high temperatures, making it pourable and malleable enough to spread smoothly across surfaces.

Officers from the Jackson Police Department arrived at the scene around 10:30AM and found Sheriff buried beneath the hot asphalt, Police Chief Joseph Wade confirmed in a press conference.
“There were some individuals on scene that tried to help him,” Wade reported. “They said he tried to fight to make it through those injuries, but they were just too enormous for him to survive.”
Chief Wade described the incident as “horrific” and “tragic,” adding: “It’s something that you do not want to see.”
The police department has launched a thorough investigation into the fatality, though the incident is currently being treated as an accident.
“It appeared to be some type of malfunction with his dump truck,” Wade explained.
Several family members of Sheriff were present at the scene and were left devastated by the loss, remembering him as a “good, hard-working family man,” Wade shared.
With the holiday season approaching, the family’s grief is especially profound.
“With the holidays coming up, to lose this gentleman, who was out here just trying to make a living,” Wade said. “They’re really hurt, but we’re going to be here to support them and uplift them in prayer.”
Tributes have already flooded in via social media, with many friends and relatives paying their respects.
“R.I.P to Darrell Sheriff man we been boys since high school. Shame damn life doesn’t come with any guarantees,” one friend posted.
“GOD BOUGHT MY COUSIN HOME TODAY!! A VERY HUMBLE MAN IMMA MISS YOU COUSIN Darrell Sheriff IM LOST FOR WORDS,” a second person said.
A third added: “My deepest sympathy and Prayers to the Sheriff family! RIP classmate. You will definitely be missed.”
