George Clooney remains captivated by his wife, Amal Clooney, the enigmatic and alluring woman who captured his heart, putting an end to his bachelor status despite strong criticism from onlookers.

In 2015, the Associated Press faced criticism for referring to Amal, who was then representing Egyptian-Canadian journalist Mohamed Fahmy, as an “actor’s wife.” The original Tweet stated, “Amal Clooney, actor’s wife, representing Al-Jazeera journalist accused in Egypt of ties to extremists.” The backlash prompted the AP to revise the Tweet to, “Human rights lawyer Amal Clooney criticizes prison terms handed down to three Al-Jazeera English journalists.”
Addressing the situation on BBC via Entertainment Tonight, Amal responded tactfully, saying, “There’s not much I can do to control it except keep going. When people criticize journalism that focuses on the wrong issues, that’s heartening and shows that people expect more from their press.”
In March 2022, Time recognized Amal in a cover feature titled “Women of the Year, 12 Leaders Working Toward a More Equal World.” The article, written by her client Maria Ressa, a Filipino-American journalist and Nobel Peace laureate, was titled “Amal Clooney Won’t Back Down.” Regarding her increased celebrity and criticism, Amal shared, “In terms of an increased public profile, I think all I can do is try to turn the spotlight to what is important.
