A bride has called out one of her wedding guests after she received their “ridiculous” RSVP.
There’s no doubting how stressful weddings can be; from buying the perfect dress to making sure the centerpieces are just right for the occasion, there’s just lots to think about.
Perhaps the most stressful of them all has to be sorting out the guest list.
While you may be forced to make a few decisions you’d rather not have made, overall you have to trust that your guests understand the stressful nature of the situation and actually make your life a little easier – though that’s not always the case.

This one bride was left frustrated after one of her guests sent back a “ridiculous” RSVP – with plenty of handwritten annotations.
Taking to Facebook to vent, the woman explained why she was left upset by one of her future husband’s invitees adding an extra guest to their form without consulting with the couple first.
“Anyone else deal with ridiculous RSVPs? I guess I should have been more clear but for a back story, this is a family friend on my fiancé’s side,” she captioned a Facebook post in a group dedicated to brides.
Her fiancé’s family friend checked the “joyfully accepts” box but decided to revise the number of people in her family invited to the event, increasing her allotted four seats to “4 + baby.”
She also made a note about dietary requirements, writing: “Don’t worry about [my husband] with his celiac disease. He’ll eat before the wedding – and baby will eat from my plate.”
The bride was trying to be understanding about the situation, but she couldn’t quite hide the stress that it caused her.
“She has kids from three different men including her current husband,” she continued in her post. “So I asked her how many she thinks are coming and she told me four – including her one-year-old baby.”
However, even though she was already given four slots, she decided to amend the number to include a baby.
“She included her husband’s child from a previous relationship and like I don’t even know her husband well enough to have HIS child from someone else come,” the bride stated before adding: “She never told me that the child was coming with them. I’m just annoyed.”
While she confirmed that she knew most venues don’t include anyone under the age of two as a headcount, she was frustrated that the guest didn’t ask the couple and just assumed that it would be okay.
“Just annoyed. Nothing I can do now,” she concluded.

Some agreed with the bride’s reasons, with this one user writing: “Overall I’d still have a conversation with your fiancé and talk with him. It’s disrespectful and rude to do that.”
Another added: “I would call this guest to make it very clear who is invited. The bride is not wrong to do that, the guest is wrong to assume there’s room for everybody she wants to bring.”
However, others advised that the bride should have made the guest list more clear.
“Yikes, if you invite the family then you invite the whole family. If you didn’t want kids there, you should have said so,” this user wrote.
And this person also agreed adding: “When bride originally called, it was an open invitation. So the guest went off the spirit of that. Taking it back now would be rude, especially given the reasoning! That child is a part of the family just as much as the other kids.”
