Clint Eastwood’s longtime partner recently passed away tragically after being out of the public eye for several years. He expressed his deep sorrow, stating he would miss her terribly following her sudden health-related death.
Clint Eastwood and Christina Sandera first met when she worked as a hostess at his Mission Ranch Hotel and Restaurant in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. They reportedly started dating in 2014, the same period Eastwood finalized his divorce from TV news anchor Dina Ruiz.
The couple had been married for 17 years before she filed for the dissolution of their marriage, citing irreconcilable differences and blaming those around him for the split.
Despite the circumstances, Ruiz praised Eastwood in 2013 for being a good man. “He’s lovely, he (Clint) hasn’t done much. It’s other people around him [who] have done things that have blown me away and again my future ex-husband has done nothing [wrong],” she said.

The reporter, who shares one child with the actor, added, “He’s probably the sweetest guy I’ve ever met. He is the sweetest, he is a loving, kind, low-key person so my intuition was still great on marrying a good person.”
After settling their divorce, Sandera reportedly moved in with the Hollywood heavyweight not long after. In June of that year, she and Eastwood were spotted grocery shopping in Los Angeles.
It turns out the two had been living together for months up until that point, in the same house he used to share with Ruiz. Eastwood’s children even welcomed his companion with open arms and described her as “normal.”
During their time together, Sandera got to spend time with Eastwood’s children, including celebrating birthday milestones. In a 2020 interview, his son, Scott Eastwood, revealed that they would mark his 90th birthday by having a family lunch together.
Moreover, Sandera also attended public events with the Eastwood family. She supported her boyfriend through his career milestones over the years.
The longtime couple arrived arm in arm at the 87th Annual Academy Awards in February 2015. While Eastwood, who was nominated for an Oscar that evening, donned a black suit with a bow tie, his girlfriend stunned in a long, long-sleeved dress.
The next month, the pair also attended the 4th Annual Sun Valley Film Festival Vision Awards dinner, honoring Eastwood. For the occasion, the honoree sported a blue blazer with black pants and sneakers.
Meanwhile, his significant other Sandera, opted for an all-white outfit for the public outing, which she paired with black strap heels, a matching clutch, and a coat.

She accompanied the award-winning director again to the New York premiere of “Sully” in September 2016. That same month, the two attended the screening of “Sully” in Los Angeles, California.
Sandera and Eastwood attended yet another high-profile event in May 2017. They were pictured at the Vanity Fair and Chopard party celebrating the Cannes Film Festival.
The following year in February 2018, the couple attended the world premiere of “The 15:17 to Paris” along with Eastwood’s two children and son-in-law.
Later that year in December, the father of eight was seen arriving with Sandera at the premiere of “The Mule.” The duo, who held hands, later posed for photos at the Regency Village Theatre alongside Eastwood’s family.

His kids, Alison Eastwood (along with her spouse Stacy Poitras); Scott and Kyle Eastwood (with his wife Cynthia Ramirez); granddaughter Graylen Eastwood and his first wife, Maggie Johnson, to whom he was married from 1953 until 1984, were there to support him.
“The Mule” marked the family patriarch’s return to the big screen following a six-year hiatus. His last movie role was in 2012’s “Trouble with the Curve.” In addition to starring in “The Mule,” as Earl Stone, a quiet man who gets caught up in drug trafficking, he also directed and produced the film.
The movie premiere was not the last time Eastwood and Sandera were seen together. Their final red-carpet appearance was in November 2019 at the AFI Fest in Hollywood, California. The pair, who kept their decade-long relationship away from the limelight, were seldom photographed together.
However, when the acclaimed actor attended his daughter Morgan Eastwood’s wedding in June 2024, Sandera was there with him. The bride’s mother, Ruiz, was also present along with her husband, Scott Fisher. There were 130 guests at the European-inspired ceremony which was an intimate affair.
Before the wedding, Sandera was scarce for four years. Eastwood sadly announced in a statement on July 18, 2024, that she had died at age 61. “Christina was a lovely, caring woman, and I will miss her very much,” he said. A Warner Bros. spokesperson revealed that no further information would be released.
In the wake of her passing, online users sympathized with Eastwood on X. One wrote, “So sorry for Clint’s loss.” “Incredibly sorry to hear this, Clint. Praying for you and the family,” added another.
Someone else expressed, “Very sorry for Mr. Eastwood’s loss and also for the family and friends of Ms. Christina.” One penned, “My condolences, very sad news.”
Morgan also paid tribute to her dad’s partner online. She shared a picture of herself and her husband, Tanner Koopmans, with the 94-year-old and the deceased on her wedding day.
The actress said it was heart-breaking loss for the family and thanked Sandera for being a devoted lover to her father, adding she would be deeply missed.
Only days after Eastwood announced Sandera’s passing, the cause of death was revealed. A representative from the Monterey County Health Department disclosed that she died of a heart attack.

Moreover, the death certificate listed the philanthropist’s immediate cause as cardiac arrhythmia. The condition occurs when the heart beats at an abnormal rate.
According to Mayo Clinic, heart arrhythmia arises when the heart’s electrical signals malfunction, causing the heart to beat irregularly. This irregularity can manifest as a heart that beats too quickly, too slowly, or with an inconsistent rhythm.
When experiencing a heart arrhythmia, it may feel like a fluttering, pounding, or racing sensation in the chest. While some arrhythmias are harmless, others can result in severe, life-threatening symptoms.
A heart arrhythmia might not present any symptoms and could be detected incidentally during a routine health examination for another issue. Possible symptoms of an arrhythmia include; a fluttering, pounding, or racing sensation in the chest, rapid heartbeat, slow heartbeat, chest discomfort, and difficulty breathing.

Other additional symptoms may include; anxiety, extreme fatigue, light-headedness or dizziness, sweating, fainting, or near-fainting episodes.
A heart arrhythmia was not the only issue that led to Sandera’s death. Atherosclerotic coronary artery disease was determined as an additional condition that led to her demise.
Atherosclerosis involves the gradual hardening of arteries due to plaque accumulation. This plaque, composed of fat, cholesterol, and other substances, restricts blood flow. Symptoms of atherosclerosis may not appear until complications such as a heart attack or stroke occur.

Sandera is one of the women Eastwood has had a long-term relationship with. He previously dated stuntwoman, Roxanne Tunis. The esteemed filmmaker was also romantically involved with Academy Award nominee, Sondra Locke, whom he dated for 14 years and co-starred in six movies together.
Eastwood’s other partners include former flight attendant, Jacelyn Reeves, and actress, Frances Fisher. He and Fisher were together for five years and appeared in four films.
The untimely passing of Sandera has left a significant void in Clint Eastwood’s life. Her death underscores the silent yet deadly nature of heart conditions like arrhythmia and atherosclerosis, which often go unnoticed until they result in serious complications.
