Celebrities are known for giving their kids names that aren’t the norm. And ‘Glee’ alum Darren Criss is just the latest celebrity to remind us that they’re not going to stop anytime soon. Darren and his wife, Mia, welcomed their second child, a son last week, and their birth announcement didn’t go quite the way they planned.
The couple shared a picture of their baby boy wrapped in a Star Wars swaddle blanket and smiling with a pair of sunglasses on his eyes.
“M & D just delivered their follow-up single. ⭐️ Brother László Criss ⭐️ 6/3/24 🎶 Out now. 🎶,” Darren captioned the post, which also featured the couple’s toddler daughter.
“Is his first name Brother??” one comment read, and it opened the floodgates.
So many people were in disbelief that Darren and Mia chose to name their son Brother that Darren actually had to edit the post’s caption to read “… and yes his first name is Brother 💛.”
“If you need to say ‘yes his name really is…,’ chances are you picked a bad name,” one person wrote.
“Some people need to remember (or outright realise) their babies are actual human beings they are choosing to name 🤦🏻♀️😬,” another comment read.
“Sorry but I am gonna judge a stranger’s baby on the internet. Brother?” a person asked.
One commenter proclaimed that “celebrities shouldn’t be allowed to name children!”
Another jokingly referred to possible wedding vows, writing, “‘Do you take Brother to be your lawfully wedded husband?'”
“Darren… I adore you… But you just doomed your kid to mockery for the rest of his life,” someone else wrote.
Darren and Mia announced that they were expecting their second child together in an Instagram post back in December. In the post, they superimposed their faces, along with daughter Bluesy Belle, on top of the promotional poster for the movie Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again.
“And COMING SOON… let’s hope the sequel is better than the photoshop,” he wrote in the caption.
