The price of Denny’s breakfast has tripled in recent years

With inflation still pretty high, it’s perhaps expected we would see a rise in pretty much everything.

Heck, a top economist recently made a harrowing prediction set to happen within months.

And with an ongoing cost of living crisis, the last thing we need is our small pleasures rising in cost to the point where we have to think twice about enjoying them.

Social media is usually a pretty good place to see whether other people agree with your annoyance or not and it’s fair to say many are unimpressed by Denny’s new prices.

The restaurant’s much-loved ‘slam’ breakfast platters has more than tripled in recent years, as per the New York Post.

Denny’s recent price hikes have become the hot topic of conversation on the inflation Reddit forum, with the ‘Lumberjack Slam’ breakfast fuelling most of it.

The brekkie option is a packed one, offering two buttermilk pancakes, two sausage, two bacon, two egg, hash browns, two pieces of toast and a solitary slice of grilled ham.

While that sounds like a delicious breakfast, it certainly comes at a price.

Coming in at $17.99, Denny’s long-running breakfast option is no longer a cheap option.

And that price pays for just the basic version, if you are looking for bananas or even a cinnamon roll, the bill is going to be topped up with an extra $3.09.

Americans will also know there’s an extra on top of that known as tipping, so you really are looking at a bill $25+ if you decide the extra options are for you.

Many Redditors have flocked to the comments section of the post, with the majority outraged.

“Damn this used to be like $9 I think when I was in high school (2005),” one person recalled.

A second added: “Came here for this. I used to get a lumberjack, coffee and cake for under $20. Now I can’t leave Denny’s for less than $35 and dysentery.”

“At my local Dennys Lumberjack Slam $11.49, Checked I-Hop Big Breakfast which is $17.29 2 eggs, 2 sausage 2 bacon, 2 thick cut ham, hash browns, 2 pancakes, toast,” a third remarked while a fourth quipped: “Where do they get off changing those prices. There are so many local farm to tables restaurants in my area who charge less for quality food.”

And a fifth wrote: “That’s almost what I had for dinner last night and the most expensive item on my plate was real maple syrup. I’ll stay home.

“Dennys food all comes frozen and from cans like everywhere else, you’re paying for the convenience and it’s not worth it.”
