Jack Keating has insisted that he’s an “opportunity baby” in response to nepotism claims.
The 25-year-old is the son of Boyzone star Ronan Keating and model Yvonne Connolly.
Speaking exclusively to Goss.ie at the Marie Keating Foundation Golf Classic 2024, Jack described how life works when you have famous parents.
Jack quipped: “Everybody loves to throw around the aul’ ‘nepo baby’ thing but I like to say that I’m an ‘opportunity baby’.”
“As a ‘nepo baby’, you can get put in the room but you can only do as much as you can when you get in the room.”
“You can have the name or your dad can put you into places but it only gets you so far, you have to actually put the work in as well.”
Jack revealed how he was taking after his father in his new gig as a radio presenter on Spin 1038FM.
“It’s actually kind of how the radios going now, you might hear me on the radiowaves sometime soon,” he added.
In June, Ronan announced that he was stepping down from his presenting slot on Magic’s Radio Breakfast show after 7 years.
The 47-year-old admitted it had been “very difficult” to make the decision.
He said on Thursday’s programme: “I wanted our listeners, our Magic Breakfast listeners and our Magic Radio listeners to be the first to know that after seven years and so many incredible shows, I’ve decided to stand down from Magic Breakfast at the end of July.”
“I have loved every single minute, this has not been an easy decision at all.”
“I came on board as you know [Harriet] for a year, maybe two and I’ve loved the job so much that I’ve stayed here for seven.”
“We’ve had an amazing time and we’ve been through some incredibly emotional times with people at home.”
