George W. Bush is thrilled to announce the arrival of a new family member. The 78-year-old former president recently shared the joyful news of his grandson’s birth on social media.
The baby, Edward Finn, was born to Bush’s daughter Barbara and her husband Craig. This marks the couple’s second child; they also have a 2-year-old daughter, Cora Georgia.
In a touching photo posted online, Barbara and Craig are seen in the hospital, lovingly cradling their newborn son. Bush shared this special moment with his followers, saying, “Welcome to the world, Edward Finn Coyne. @laurawbush and I are overjoyed to be grandparents to our newest blessing, born on August 4 and named in honor of his great-grandfathers.” He also congratulated the new parents and their eldest, Cora Georgia.
The news was first revealed by Barbara’s twin sister, Jenna Bush Hager, on August 5. Jenna, co-anchor of the Today show, took to Instagram to express her excitement about becoming an aunt again. Her post included several photos of the family’s early moments with Edward Finn. One image shows Jenna feeding the baby, while another captures her admiration for Barbara holding her newborn. Another heartwarming photo features Edward peacefully resting in his mother’s arms.
Although Jenna did not provide many details about the birth, the photos convey the family’s joy. Notably, Edward’s hat from NYU Langone Health suggests that Barbara may have given birth at this renowned New York City hospital.
This isn’t the first time George and Laura Bush have shared their excitement about becoming grandparents. When Barbara and Craig’s daughter Cora was born, the couple issued a joint statement celebrating her arrival. They announced that Cora Georgia Coyne was born on September 27, 2021, in Maine, near the family home where Barbara and Craig were married. They expressed their immense joy and gratitude for their healthy and adorable granddaughter.
