I can only imagine the amount of unrelenting pressure most celebrities live their lives trying to deal with.
Criticism regarding one’s work is inevitable and, at times perhaps, even acceptable. Obviously no artist is going to create something that’s universally loved every time, just as entertainers are going to have bad nights once in a while.
Yet while fans expressing such opinions is part and parcel of being a high-profile individual, by this day and age I think we can all agree we hoped we’d be above personal attacks or trolling online.
Sadly, we’re not, and the internet has done a tremendous job of effectively serving as a megaphone in a town square with room for millions. Not only do celebrities run the risk of bumping into disgruntled fans in their everyday lives, but they also now have to live with a barrage of comments each time they decide to let others in by way of posting to their social platforms.
Halle Berry was reminded just how harsh the internet can be at the weekend, after she shared a stunning nude photo of herself.
Suffice to say Halle Berry broke the internet on Saturday when she posted a photo of herself standing on a balcony drinking a glass of wine and wearing … wait for it … absolutely nothing.
The 56-year-old Oscar-winning actress accompanied the picture with the caption: “I do what I wanna do.”
Yet while a good many of the responses in the comments field were positive (people at large cheered Berry on), there were, of course, also those who had negative things to say.
One person took particular exception to Berry’s nude photo, writing: “Imagine being in your 50s, still posting nudes for attention in menopause when you should be chilling with the grandkids. Aging with dignity is no longer a thing.”
Now, given that Berry’s been an A-lister for a considerable amount of time, one could be forgiven for thinking she might just turn a blind eye to her naysayers, treating them with disregard they deserve.
That’s not the cloth from which the Catwoman star is cut from, however.
No, the Hollywood star clapped back with a response that her followers found absolutely hilarious.
The “Monster’s Ball” actress retweeted the post with her own comment, which read, “Did you guys know the heart of a shrimp is located in its head?”
