here have been many heroes that have come forward in the wake of Hurricane Helene. This includes a helicopter pilot from South Carolina, Jordan Seidhom.
As a rescue helicopter pilot, Jordan Seidhom had the opportunity to conduct a number of missions in North Carolina following Hurricane Helene. He is a volunteer firefighter and he took his teenage son along with him to help victims that were stranded in the Lake Lure region.
Jordan was busy flying back and forth to provide food and water to people who were trapped in that devastated area. Sometimes he would simply leave the resources and at other times, he would airlift people and bring them to safety.
On one particular mission, however, he was told by a local official that there was a flight restriction in place. If he continued to fly his missions, he was going to be placed under arrest.
There was more to the story, however, because he had left his son along with a victim on a mountain. His next trip was going to be one that would rescue both of them but the official forced him to abandon the mission.
Fortunately, the flight restriction only lasted for a single day but he was still very frustrated over the situation. He feels that the official’s actions put lives in jeopardy.
In addition to the pilot, the Carolina Emergency Response Team was critical of the decision. They felt it putting people in danger physically and it must have been very terrifying to watch your lifeline flying away without stopping to help.
