Despite his fame, guitarist, singer, and composer Jon Bon Jovi has maintained a very modest family life.
After more than 30 years of marriage to his high school sweetheart, Dorothea, the pair has four children together: Romeo Jon, 19, Stephanie Rose, 30, Jesse, 28, and Jake, 21.
Early love
On April 29, 1989, Jon and Dorothea, who are both now 61, got married. Jon had just become well-known thanks to his number-one album New Jersey and a number-topping single. In 2010, Jon told Men’s Health that the proposal came about on its own when he proposed they go on an elopement when they were staying at the St. James Club. Dorothea was quite reluctant at first, but she finally consented, and they were married at the Graceland Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas.
While announcements of marriage are typically greeted with joy and excitement, Jon and Dorothea’s marriage wasn’t always treated with this. Many of Jon’s admirers were actually disturbed because they found it hard to accept that their hero was no longer a single man. Even Jon’s management wasn’t impressed, viewing it as a mistake for his career. The newlyweds, however, remained steadfast and devoted to one another.
“America wasn’t happy on that Monday when they found out about the wedding, and a lot of people tried to ruin a beautiful thing. They tried to cheat us out of that moment,” Jon told The Mirror in 2018.
Over the years, Jon and Dorothea have maintained their relationship and created a close-knit family in spite of the initial reluctance. According to People, the rock musician has previously stated that their marriage’s durability is just the result of “mutual respect.”
Dorothea and Jon, still incredibly in love
The pair not only gets along well but also has a close bond because they grew up together. Both Jon and Dorothea, who saw Jon’s talent early on, credit hard work and a dedication to eschewing the traps of celebrity life for their happy marriage.
Doing the right thing for his family and making a positive impact on the world brings Jon Bon Jovi great satisfaction. Even though he is successful and famous, he is careful not to fall victim to the same problems that other famous people do. He will receive the MusiCares Person of the Year award in 2024 in honor of his contributions to the music business.
In 2006, Jon and Dorothea co-founded the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation in addition to their personal pursuits. They tackle homelessness, hunger, and injustice through this foundation. With a pay-what-you-can concept, both the Soul Kitchen restaurant and food banks strive to have a significant impact.
When paparazzi pictures from their romantic evening were uploaded to the internet, people almost instantly raced to the comments area to share their thoughts. Jon and Dorothea’s long love was commended by some, but her beauty was attacked by others. One person said, “He is way too good looking for her, always has been!”
Another said: “Thought she was his mom.”
A person commented, “Good for them, they obviously have something special together after 35 years,” among other compliments for the couple.
The love tale of Jon and Dorothea only serves to highlight the enduring power of love. The pair is still happy together even though they are in their 60s!
