Kirk Cameron is the latest celebrity to depart from California. On Wednesday, the Growing Pains actor declared his intention to move out of the Golden State.
He explained that after seeing California ““moving in a particular direction for a long time” and causing “so much division,” he made the decision to leave his home state.
The father of six disclosed that he went to Tennessee in search of a place that would provide him with a “healthy freedom mindset” in addition to the fact that three of his grown children reside there.
“If everything hits the fan and there’s some serious economic problems and division going on, they want to be around people like they think who are all about God, family, and country. It’s a really nice place to be,” he said to the Washington Examiner.
Cameron found that “a lot of California refugees” are residing in Tennessee, whether they like it or not.
“It’s shocking how many Californians are here. And when I see them in the grocery store, I tell them, ‘Don’t California our Tennessee,’” he joked.
Numerous others have fled California “for safety and for security,” including his sister Candace Cameron Bure.
Though Tennessee appears to attract a lot of ex-Californians, Cameron thinks the state is a better location to live because of its “good wholesome values and, equally as important, good whisky.”
