Jeffrey Paige and his girlfriend visited Ramsay’s Atlantic City restaurant and planned to treat themselves to a delicious meal.

They had their eyes on the American Wagyu beef, known for its amazing texture and flavor.

But things didn’t go to plan when Jeffrey decided to try something else.

The diner came across the ‘real deal’ Triple Seared Japanese A5 and believed it was at a bargain price.

This particular style of steak is most typically known as Kobe and is deemed by many to be one of the finest cuts available.

Jeffrey was under the impression this cut was priced at $35 for four ounces, while the Wagyu was $84 for eight ounces.

He told the Mirror: “I had never had real deal kobe.”

Jeffrey and his girlfriend were then left speechless when after tucking into their meals, their bill totaled $600 – a lot more than they had budgeted.

Confused, the pair looked at the menu to double-check and realized that the Kobe cut was actually $35 per ounce, instead of every four ounces.

Although the meal cost more than Jeffrey bargained for, he said he ‘regrets nothing’ and he and his girlfriend thoroughly enjoyed it.

He said: “All in all an amazing meal and we were glad we could support the restaurant and its staff during these challenging times.”

Jeffrey also took to Reddit and opened up about his blunder, joking: “I wish Chef Ramsay was there to come out and call me a doughnut for f***ing this up lol.

“I enjoyed the hell out of it. No regrets baby!”

He continued: “My family and I are huge Gordon Ramsay fans, we watch his shows – Hell’s KitchenMaster Chef – and I’ve been to his restaurants before and loved everything we’ve gotten.

“The steak and the experience were unforgettable, and if I had to make this blunder at any restaurant in the world, I’m glad it was at Chef Ramsay’s.”

Many people took to the comments and shared that they’d experienced similar situations.

One person said: “That’s pretty common at super high-end places. You gotta be real careful.”

Another added: “6oz of A5 nearly killed me in Kobe, [the] richest food I have ever eaten and my god I would do it again in a heartbeat.”

“Went to Narisawa in Tokyo with this exact mindset. And walked out around $1200 poorer,” someone else said. “Absolutely worth every penny.”
