Nev Schulman, presenter of Catfish, disclosed that he was involved in a terrible vehicle accident last week and that he is “lucky to be alive” despite his injuries.

In order to keep his fans informed, the 39-year-old MTV personality resorted to Instagram after a truck struck his motorcycle while he was en route to pick up his son from school.

Nev posted pictures and videos of himself in the hospital after the crash, wearing a neck brace.

He told his followers: “I went fishing with my family on Sunday. It was incredible, my son’s idea. One of those days that just work. We found an available boat (thank you captain ben!) and caught all kinds of fish, most of which we threw back because they were too cute. Especially the puffer. It was magical. A day full of love and wonder in the way only calm days in nature with family can be.”

“Monday was not a day like that. Monday was a day where I learned what ‘before the accident’ really means. And Monday gave weight to just how lucky I was to have Sunday. It’s true what they say – life can change in an instant.”

“I never made it to pick up my son from school on the bike,” he said, revealing that he had been traveling to get him when the incident happened.

In some respects, I’m actually relieved that I didn’t. On impact, I was by myself. The truck and myself. And the pavement, I suppose. I was unconscious and by myself. and after that, be aware. Perhaps I wasn’t feeling well. I couldn’t complete my long run on Thursday, but maybe I could still.

“I broke my neck. C5 and C6 to be exact. Stable fractures. I’m not paralyzed. My hands were a question mark there for a minute, but the human body is incredible, and so are HUMANS.”

“I’m lucky to be here, alive, standing and hugging my family, projected to make a full recovery. And I’m really starting to understand the meaning of gratitude. For the big and little things before the accident, and now everything moving forward.”

“I consider myself fortunate to be standing here, breathing, giving my loved ones hugs, and expecting to fully recover. And I’m beginning to truly get what appreciation means. Regarding the major and minor matters before the mishap, as well as the current course of events.”

He reflected again on how lucky he was to have had such a perfect day with his family just one day before disaster struck, explaining: “We hadn’t planned on fishing last Sunday, and my instinct was to say no to scramble-planning a day trip, but looking back a week later, I’m so glad I said yes.”

Nev’s life has revolved around motorcycles since he messaged Laura Perlongo on Instagram, asking her if she wanted to go on a trip on his motorcycle. The two got married in 2017.

Cleo James, Beau Bobbym, and Cy Monroe—the latter of whom he had been on his way to pick up from school—are the couple’s three children together.

Nev appears to have had a fortunate escape, thank goodness, and we wish him ongoing well-being.
