Ava has now opened up about her sexuality, sharing some powerful social media posts – and the internet is loving it!

“Yaaaaaaaas! Welcome to the club lovely!” one fan writes.

Another pens: “Congratulations to you! Good for you. Beautiful just like mum.”

“Whatever you want to be is none of my business!! I will support you no matter what,” agrees a third.

This isn’t the first time Ava’s personal life has been in the headlines.

Previously, Witherspoon candidly opened up with InStyle magazine about the distinct upbringing of her children, who, unlike the actress herself, grew up in the midst of fame.

The Big Little Lies actress said: “It’s an odd situation because I didn’t grow up famous. So [Ava is] living an experience that I did not have, and so are my sons.

“We are lucky enough to have friends who grew up in Hollywood and can help give them advice on how to navigate.”

Witherspoon went on to emphasize her complete support for her children and their journeys in discovering who they are, adding: “Ava is so down-to-earth. She wants to do great things in the world.”

The Cruel Intentions actress explained that Ava is ‘trying to find herself’ and figure out her ‘path’ in life.

Earlier this year, Witherspoon’s daughter Ava came out on Instagram!

Ava, 25, is often mistaken for the Just Like Heaven actress and already has a successful career of her own – she’s partnered up with renowned brands like Beyoncé’s Ivy Park and Pat McGrath Labs.

Recently, she engaged with her one million Instagram followers using the platform’s Q&A feature and ended up discussing her sexuality.

One user inquired about Ava’s preferences regarding her romantic interests, to which the star offered a straightforward response.

“I’m attracted to… people!” she conveyed in text overlaid on a picture of herself donning a glamourous blue eye shadow.

She then elaborated in parenthesis: “Gender is whatever.”

While Ava doesn’t explicitly state her sexuality in the post, anyone attracted to a person and not a gender may identify as pansexual.

Pansexual means being ‘attracted to all gender identities, or attracted to people regardless of gender,’ according to GLAAD.

Ava is believed to be in a relationship with Owen Mahoney, a fellow student at UC Berkeley, and they reportedly began dating around 2019.

As they are largely offline, it’s unclear if they are still together, although he has been conspicuously absent from her Instagram in recent times.

Since her initial announcement, Ava has discussed her sexuality further.

She’s previously warned (via People): “I can and will block profiles commenting bigoted/hateful messages under my posts.

“My Instagram profile is not a place for cruelty/hate speech and I intend to do what I can to keep it that way. Peace and love.”

And this summer, in celebration of Pride Month, she shared another image proudly proclaiming her LGTBQ+ status.

Ava’s post read: “Once upon a time, some gal on the internet said ‘gender is whatever’ in reference to her own sexuality.

“Many took her words out of context, but she knew what she meant. Anyways, this is her posting for the first day of Pride Month 2024.”

She also wished a ‘Happy Pride Month’ to ‘my LGBTQ+ community’ and the haters in the comments in an Instagram story follow-up.

The post has been praised by followers, with Charmed actress Alyssa Milano commenting: “This picture made me smile so big. Happy Pride!”

TikTok star Dylan Mulvaney adds: “So much love for you!”

And it looks as though Ava has the full support of her famous mom, who added a like to the adorable post.
