Rhasidat Adeleke has reportedly chosen not to take part in the 400m mixed relay event for the Paris Olympics.
The Dubliner is said to be focusing on the individual 400m event, where she has a good chance of winning a medal.
The 21-year-old took part in the European Championships mixed relay event in Rome last month, where Ireland won gold and smashed the national record.
The June mixed relay win was one of the sporting highlights of the year, and the four runners gained plaudits nationwide.
Ireland is now ranked third fastest behind the Dutch and the Dominicans.
However, just two days later, the athlete revealed that her legs felt heavy after she won silver and ran a national record of 49.07 in the 400 semi-finals.
The Tallaght woman narrowly missed out on gold, which was won by Polish runner Natalia Kaczmarek, who didn’t line up for the mixed relay event.
Ireland will start their 4x400m mixed relay event on Friday, August 2.
The heats are set for 7.10pm (Irish time), with the final then set for the Saturday night (8.55pm)
The mixed 4x400m relay team will be led by Chris O’Donnell, who will hand over to Sophie Becker, then Thomas Barr and Sharlene Mawdsley, who will finish off the race.
Even if the team makes it to the final, Rhasidat is still expected to withdraw from the event.
Rhasidat’s sole focus is on the individual women’s 400m race of which the heats will start on Monday, August 5.
