Rick Harrison, the well-known star of the Pawn Shop, has shared a touching tribute on Instagram following the sudden death of his son, Adam. Adam, 39, tragically passed away from a drug overdose in Las Vegas on Friday, leaving his family in deep sorrow and shock.
Rick posted a photo of himself smiling with Adam at a bar, captioning it, “You will always be in my heart! I love you Adam. 💔.”
A family representative, Laura Herlovich, confirmed Adam’s death to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The family expressed their grief, asking for privacy during this difficult time. “Our family is extremely saddened by the death of Adam. We ask for privacy as we grieve his loss,” the statement read.
Cause of Death Revealed
Rick Harrison spoke to Fox News Digital, revealing that Adam died from a fentanyl overdose. “Yes, I can confirm Adam died from a fentanyl overdose,” Rick said. He highlighted the severity of the fentanyl crisis in the country, emphasizing the need for more action to control its spread.
Fans and celebrities alike have shared messages of condolence. Donald Trump Jr. wrote, “I’m so sorry man,” showing his support for Rick and his family. Adam’s brother, Corey Harrison, also paid tribute by sharing an old baby photo of the two of them in a bath, captioned, “Wax wtf I will always love you bubba.”
Adam was Rick Harrison’s second child from his first marriage to Kim Harrison. Although not as involved in the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop or the reality show as his father and brother Corey, Adam did work with his father at times.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports a significant increase in overdose deaths, including those from synthetic opioids like fentanyl, which rose by 56.6% from January 2020 to 2021. The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) lists fentanyl as a Schedule II controlled substance, noting that it is about 100 times more potent than morphine. Even a small amount, less than a grain of salt, can be lethal.
Our hearts go out to the Harrison family during this tragic time. Rest in peace, Adam.
