Ryan Gosling Never Appears with Partner & Mom of His 2 Kids Anymore — Inside Their Decision

Ryan Gosling and his partner Eva Mendes started dating in 2011. The pair have been together for about 13 years and share two daughters, Esmeralda Amada and Amada Lee Gosling. Gosling and Mendes are often tight-lipped about their relationship.

The two met on the set of “The Place Beyond the Pines,” where they costarred as love interests. In September 2011, they were spotted on a date in Disneyland’s California Adventure Park in Anaheim, California, where the two took their offscreen romance away from the cameras.

A source said Gosling and Mendes had great chemistry on screen and enjoyed filming the movie “The Place Beyond the Pines” as Luke and Romina together. “Ryan and Eva have spent a lot of time together on the set,” added the insider.

A year after meeting, Mendes and Gosling were spotted attending the actor’s mother’s graduation at Brock University in Ontario, Canada, in June 2012. The pair looked happy to be in each other’s company and received a warm reception at the university as members were shocked at their high-profile appearance.

Mendes and Gosling were not married when they welcomed their first child. The actress gave birth to Esmeralda Amada Gosling on September 12, 2014, at 10:22 a.m. in Santa Monica, California. A friend of the couple said they had discussed having children before the actress got pregnant.

The two would travel to different places and go on hikes with their dog, but when Mendes got pregnant, she barely left home, and Gosling did a great job of taking care of her. He was also supportive of keeping the pregnancy a secret.

The friend added that Mendes, who gave birth via C-section, was “in heaven being a mom.” The couple were also amazed at the beautiful person they’d created. “It’s a really special time for them,” said the friend.

Ryan Gosling, who recently starred in “Barbie” as Ken alongside Margot Robbie, became a dad for the second time on April 29, 2016, when Mendes gave birth to their second daughter Amada Lee Gosling in Santa Monica, California. The couple kept their second pregnancy under wraps for months.

Mendes’ social accounts gave no hints that she was pregnant, nor did Gosling. A source said the actress has never wanted anyone beyond her close family and friends to know much about their lives. So, Gosling tried only to do one or two movies per year because he had to bring his family from their quiet town in the southern half of California to the location of each movie he shot. In his 2017 Golden Globes acceptance speech, Gosling thanked Mendes for her support as he filmed “La La Land,” and said, “My lady was raising our daughter, pregnant with our second and trying to help her brother fight his battle with cancer.”

The actor melted hearts with his speech as he added, “If she hadn’t taken all that on so that I could have this experience, would surely be someone else up here other than me to today. Sweetheart, thank you.”

Gosling dedicated this award to Mendes, who didn’t attend the event as she was at home taking care of their girls, and her late brother Carlos Mendez, who died of cancer on April 17, 2016. The actor also gushed over his daughters on the red carpet, saying that raising them was a dream come true and that they’re “angels” with “heaven eyes.”

Gosling concurred that he was a great cook who made amazing pies, a skill he learned from his mom, who used to bake as a side hustle. The actor uses raspberry to make his pie and flutes his crust, too.
