Just when Amber Portwood thought her life was going well, things seem to have taken a dramatic turn. In early June, Amber’s fans found out that the Teen Mom star was in a new relationship when she shared her boyfriend Gary on the show. (This Gary is not to be confused with Amber’s ex-fiancé and father of daughter Leah, Gary Shirley.)
During the same episode, Amber tried to share her excitement about her new relationship with her teenage daughter, and it didn’t go well. Many people have dragged Amber on social media for the way she treated her daughter, especially because it was the teen’s birthday. And now, it seems that her new boyfriend, to whom she is reportedly engaged, has disappeared.
Gary went missing in North Carolina this week.
According to Us Weekly, Gary Wayt has been reported missing from Bryson, a small town in North Carolina. The Bryson City Police Department shared more information about Gary in a Facebook post on June 11. The post explains that Gary was last seen on June 9 in Bryson City. According to their post, Gary is 6’1”, 205 pounds, and bald with brown eyes. He drives a grey 2009 Nissan Rogue with Indiana license plates. A police report obtained by Us Weekly shows that the case is still active.
People made jokes about his relationship with Amber.
“Maybe hiding from the publicity he’s getting ?” one person commented on Facebook. “I went to high school with this guy… praying he’s found safe !!!!!!”
“I’d go missing if I was with Amber too,” another person wrote. “Holy hell.”
Another commented: “Isn’t that Amber portwoods new boo? Id hide too, tbh.”
Amber is reportedly the one who reported Gary missing.
A source spoke to Us Weekly about how “distraught” Amber is over Gary’s disappearance.
“She has been trying to locate him and went to the police,” the source shared. “She doesn’t know where he is. She hasn’t heard from him and he hasn’t communicated with her or his family. She reported him missing to local police on June 10. His parents haven’t heard from him either.”
Amber and Gary’s engagement was revealed last week.
Last week it was reported that Amber and Gary had become engaged “within the last two weeks.” A source told Us Weekly that Amber was “really really happy.”
“They’ve been in couple’s therapy and talk about everything. They’re being very proactive in their relationship and are doing the work to prevent problems before they start,” the source added
They met like many other couples do.
Amber and Gary have largely kept their relationship off social media, and only those close to her knew before the most recent episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter aired. According to sources, Amber and Gary met on a “dating app” earlier this year. And unlike many of the men Amber has dated in the past, Gary has never seen or heard of the franchise that made Amber popular.
