Hollywood actor Tom Hanks met actress Rita Wilson in 1981 during the filming of the comedy series “Bosom Buddies,” and later they crossed paths again on the set of the movie “Volunteers.” At that time, however, Hanks was still married to Samantha Lewis. In 1987, the actor divorced his first wife and began dating Rita. The couple tied the knot on April 30, 1988, in Los Angeles.
At the ceremony, Rita opted for a non-traditional dress for the 80s, as that era favored outfits in the style of Princess Diana’s wedding dress: voluminous sleeves, lots of ruffles, satin fabrics, bows, and voluminous skirts.
Rita, on the other hand, chose a mini-dress with a ruffled peplum, strapless and sleeveless. She complemented the attire with white stockings, glamorous decorated shoes, a very long veil that covered her décolletage, and jewelry with stones: a necklace, earrings, and a bracelet. Tom wore a black tuxedo, white shirt, and a bow tie.
In this marriage, the couple welcomed two sons – Chet and Truman. Tom also has two children from his previous marriage – son Colin and daughter Elizabeth.
