Liam Neeson is famous in Hollywood for acting in some amazing films. From action-packed to romantic comedy, he seems to fit the bill in every role he takes. The love story of Liam Neeson and his wife, Natasha Richardson is one that warms the heart, yet ends in heartbreak. Even though Natasha passed away 13 years ago, their story is timeless. It all started in 1993. Liam and Natasha were both acting in the film,  Anna Christie. It was the first time they had met, and Liam said he felt an explosion of chemistry between them from the start. The only issue was, that Natasha was married to Robert Fox. In an interview with Anderson Cooper on 60 Minutes, Liam said: “I’d never had that kind of an explosive chemistry situation with an actor, or actress.”

The then 40-year-old Liam Neeson did not have long to wait, because Natasha’s marriage was allegedly unraveling at the time. Natasha spoke about her divorce in an interview. “Working with him, what happened between us, and that becoming public knowledge in conjunction with my marriage falling apart, was kind of bad timing,” she said. “So what can I say? Obviously I fell very much in love with him.” Natasha and Liam were married in 1994 on a small farm in upstate New York. In the first year of their marriage, they had their first son, Micheal. Then, 18 months later, their second son, Daniel, joined their family.

In 2009, life took a tragic turn. Natasha was on a skiing trip in Quebec. Reportedly, she was not wearing a helmet when she fell and hit her head. At first, she felt fine, and Liam Neeson said he even spoke to her. “I spoke to her and she said, ‘Oh, darling, I’ve taken a tumble in the snow.’ That’s how she described it,” he said to Anderson Cooper.

However, her head injury was a lot more serious than originally thought. She was rushed to the hospital, and Liam rushed off the set of Chloe to be by her side. “I went into her and I just told her I loved her. I said, ‘Sweetie, you’re not coming back from this,” he said. “She and I had made a pactIf any of us got into a vegetative state that we’d pull the plug. So when I saw her and saw all these tubes and stuff, that was my immediate thought. But [she] donated three of her organs, so she’s keeping three people alive at the moment.”

It has been 13 years since Natasha’s death. Liam Neeson described how he occasionally expects to hear her walk in the front door. “There are periods now when I hear the door opening,” Liam told Loaded magazine, “especially the first couple of years, anytime I hear that door opening, I still think I’m going to hear her.”

Since his wife’s death, Liam Neeson has not found a love like hers.

He now lives in America with his two sons, and he has kept himself busy with many roles in different films. Although, there are certain scenes that tend to trigger his grief. “It hits you,” he added. “It’s like a wave. You just get this profound feeling of instability. The earth isn’t stable anymore and then it passes and it becomes more infrequent, but I still get it sometimes.”
