Jennifer Garner has had a tough few years, especially after her divorce from Ben Affleck, but this recent event is truly heartbreaking.

Jennifer Garner’s father, William Garner, 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday. Jennifer is grieving his loss.

On Instagram, the 51-year-old actress shared that they were with him, singing “Amazing Grace” as he passed away. She joked about whether their singing helped him on his way or just scared him, according to Page Six.

“Even though losing an 85-year-old man who lived a healthy and happy life isn’t tragic, I know that grief can hit suddenly and unexpectedly.”

Despite his passing, Garner said she is “grateful” for her father’s “gentle nature and quiet strength” and reflects positively on his life.

She continued, “I’m grateful for how he was the perfect, patient dad and how he had a playful smile.” “I really appreciate his leadership, work ethic, and faith.”

She also thanked the doctors and nurses who cared for her father in his last few months.

“Your care helped Dad live longer and enjoy more time in his favorite places: with his daughters and grandchildren, cheering for his beloved Aggies, steering a boat, and, most importantly, being with our mother, his wife of 59 years,” the actress added.

“I’m sharing these memories because I appreciate the kind and amazing man, father, and grandfather he was, and the loving legacy he left us. My sisters and I will always talk about how wonderful he was, so please be patient with us.”

Garner ended the heartfelt message with some never-before-seen photos from her childhood and fun trips with her dad.

She remembered their happiest times, like picnics with watermelon and family photos.

She also shared a 2016 credit card commercial featuring herself and her father.

Talk show host Kelly Ripa commented, “What a lovely tribute. My condolences to you and your family.”

Fashion designer Rachel Zoe wrote, “I’m so sorry, Jen. Sending you lots of love and strength. He was the kindest, sweetest man.”

Actress Lily Collins said, “Sending you and your whole family the most love, light, and hugs.”

Eva Longoria commented, “Aw babe, sending you my love and prayers for you and your family.”

Jennifer Garner grew up in West Virginia with her parents, Patricia Ann and William, and her sisters, Susannah and Melissa.

She opened up about a “very public, very hard” time in her life.

In January, the actress marked her wedding anniversary by posting a sweet photo of herself with her parents in front of a flower-covered wall.

She wrote a loving message, “Mum and Dad, thank you for giving my sisters and me such a secure, happy start to life,” and wished them a happy 59th anniversary.
