Agreeing with the woman’s place of work, one viewer said: “I was so ready to be on your side and then you stepped back from the camera.”

In agreement, another commented: “HR is definitely correct.”

“Are you being serious?” questioned a third.

EzoicSomebody else weighed in, writing: “Are you kidding, not office appropriate! Wake up.”

However, others defended the employee.

Ezoic“Others need to mind their own business,” wrote one TikToker. “Says a lot when someone else’s clothes affect your job performance.”

A second penned: “If you are doing your work then it shouldn’t matter.”

EzoicIn the TikTok clip, the woman approached an employee called Matt and explained the situation, adding that her black dress had been listed as ‘an example’ of inappropriate officewear.

He responded: “I think it’s appropriate work attire.”

EzoicWhen the woman went ahead with the HR meeting, she wore a black blazer-style dress which she thought they ‘couldn’t be mad’ at.

In a recording of the apparent conversation, the HR member told the woman: “I must admit, I’m slightly disappointed seeing how you dress today.”

EzoicThe woman pointed out that Matt ‘had no issue’ with her work attire, to which the HR member said he wasn’t in a ‘position’ to have an opinion on the matter.

When the woman learned ‘comments’ had been made, she said: “I don’t think that’s my fault if I’m distracting other members of staff, that’s not on me, that’s kind of on them.”

EzoicThe HR member then claimed co-workers had accused the woman of ‘begging for attention’ and asked her whether she planned ‘to do anything differently,’ to which the woman said she’d go ‘shopping this weekend.’
