Cancer is something that a lot of us will have to deal with at some point in our lives.
The terrible disease might not touch us, but it’s very likely that someone we love or are close to will.
You may remember the scared little boy in the picture above.
The boy’s mother, Kaitlin Burge, shared a picture on social media in 2019 of her two-year-old son, Beckett, being calmed by his older sister while going through chemotherapy.
Reports say that Beckett was identified with acute lymphoblastic leukemia on April 25, 2018, and treatment started right away.
Aubrey, his four-year-old sister at the time, had to watch as her little brother fought to even walk, let alone play.
Bright Side says that Kaitlin said Beckett was in the hospital for 35 days getting treatment for cancer and Aubrey wasn’t able to see him during that time. She knew he was very sick and that doctors were taking care of him, but it was too much for her to handle.
The good news is that Beckett’s medicine worked, and the boy no longer has cancer.
“I watched my only son go through so much and still smile. I watched my sweet Aubrey push through a difficult time in her life and become so independent,” Kaitlin explained.
“She saw her best friend/brother in a state no sibling should ever have to experience.”
Beckett beat his cancer after two years of hard work and determination. He is now going to school.
“He is feeling great, he is done with treatment, and is back to school, currently in the first grade,” Kaitlin said.
Seven-year-old Beckett and his brave older sister have a bond that was formed during an unimaginable fight. We’re sure she’s glad that he’s healthy again!
