Khloé Kardashian has been open about how traumatic the months leading up to the birth of her son Tatum were for her, especially in the midst of dealing with Tristan Thompson‘s most recent cheating scandal. But this week, she made a pretty startling revelation during a podcast appearance when she admitted that her doctor offered to take Tatum home from the hospital with her after he was born so Khloé could have some extra time to wrap her mind around his birth.
Khloé appeared on the ‘She MD’ podcast on Tuesday.
The podcast is hosted by Mary Alice Haney and Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi, who is Khloé’s OB-GYN. On the episode, Khloé talked about how she struggled to feel connected to Tatum as he was being carried by a surrogate — and that her family didn’t even know she was expecting another baby when news of Tristan’s cheating scandal broke in December 2023.
“I never told my family I did the transfer. I wasn’t going to tell anyone until it took, because I wanted to surprise everyone. So no one knew,” she admitted.
She felt ‘devastated’ by all the judgment thrown her way during that time.
It’s unfathomable to think about news like that getting out both times Khloé had a baby on the way with the same man — and dealing with her critics during what was already a delicate time for her.
The news that Tatum was on his way came at an unexpected time, too: a couple of weeks before his due date.
“I remember, Dr. A. called and said she just had a checkup with my surrogate, and she said, ‘Khloé, we have to deliver within 24 hours,'” she said.
Khloé was really counting on having more alone time with True.
She’d planned to take True to Disneyland one more time before she became a big sister, so hearing that time was being cut short sent her into a panic.
“And so I go, ‘No, we can’t do this.’ And [Dr. A’s] like, ‘No, there’s no fluid in the sac. We need to do this.’ And I go, ‘I’m having a weekend. I’m having a weekend with True.’ And she goes, this is the Mother Theresa, she goes, ‘Okay,’ because I started hysterically crying because it wasn’t even about the weekend, it was about now this is real,” she said.

That’s when her doctor went above and beyond the call of duty.
Sensing Khloé’s panic, her doctor said, “You know what? I’ll deliver the baby. I’ll take the baby and you let me know when you’re ready to pick him up.”
But rather than take the doctor up on her offer, Khloê decided to “snap out of it” with a little support from big sister Kim Kardashian.
Now, Khloé says she’s ‘obsessed’ with Tatum.
After the experience she went through, she’s hoping her story can help others who are becoming parents via surrogate — and the complicated emotions that may come with it.
“I think it is such an incredible blessing that we have this option and I’m so grateful for the women out there who are giving up their bodies to carry someone else’s baby to then give it back to their mother,” she said. “It’s such a beautiful thing. But give yourself grace. Give yourself patience.”
