The 23-year-old Courtney English is eight months along with her first kid. She works as a waitress at the Lamp Post Diner in New Jersey to prepare for the baby.
While getting ready for her big arrival, the industrious waitress is having difficulty making ends meet.
She serves a local police officer while working her shift, smiling as always and carrying her kid.
Even though his bill is only $8.75, Courtney breaks down in tears reading what he writes on it.
Before her daughter is born, the diligent waitress is attempting to save as much money as she can.
According to Courtney’s father Brian Cadigan, “She’s a tough little girl.”
English waited on a busy Friday for a new customer at one of her frequent customers’ tables: a Voorhees County police officer.
When the cop arrived for lunch, she gave him her customary kind grin and they struck up a conversation.
After finishing his lunch, he paid at the counter and departed from the restaurant.
His bill was $8.75 when it came to getting the check. He did not, however, only leave the regular payment and tip. His bill’s contents garnered national attention.
On his receipt, the Voorhees police officer gave her a note saying, “Enjoy your first. It is something you will always remember. It was a $100 tip he left her for his $8.75 check.
It was a sincere statement. She was deeply moved by it,” dad Brian remarked. “She’s received nice tips in a lot of situations, but it was that one small comment that really got her.”
Courtney ran sobbing to her employer because she was so overwhelmed. Her father wrote about her on Facebook, whereupon it got viral very soon. This noble deed touched so many people.
