Even though they met in 2002, for the 20 years between when they first met and when they got back together in 2021, their troubled relationship was closely watched.
The couple broke up in 2004 after dating for two years and getting a lot of attention in the tabloids. Lopez and Affleck’s breakup didn’t stop them from getting married and having kids.

In December 2001, Lopez and Affleck get angry with each other on the set of their terrible movie Gigli.
In November 2002, Affleck asks her to marry him with a pink diamond solitaire engagement ring that was made just for her. Lopez tells Diane Sawyer that the star from “Good Will Hunting” is “brilliantly smart, loving, charming, and affectionate.” This is what she says: “I just admire him in every way.”
Just a few days before their wedding in Santa Barbara, California, in September 2003, they said in a statement that they were canceling the event.
