Fans of The Golden Bachelor were shocked when Gerry Turner and his wife, Theresa Nist, announced their split after just three months of marriage on Friday, April 12.
The couple went on Good Morning America to share the news of their divorce, leaving many questions unanswered.
They had exchanged vows in a beautiful ceremony in Palm Springs on January 4, which was broadcast live on ABC.
However, the marriage didn’t last long, raising questions about whether the couple had a prenuptial agreement and what would happen to Theresa’s engagement ring.
During the interview, Theresa admitted that she would have to give back her Neil Lane diamond ring. “I think that’s the rule, I think I have to give this ring back. Sad to say,” she sighed.
Gerry added, “But, you know what, we don’t have to give back the memories.”
ABC anchor Juju Chang confirmed that the couple did sign a prenuptial agreement and advised others to consider doing the same.
Their engagement in November 2023 had garnered attention, especially because of Gerry’s grand gesture with a custom-made princess cut ring. The ring, with two baguette-cut diamonds and 128 small round stones totaling 3.15 carats, was very special to them.
In December, Gerry told People, “The symbolism of it is so important. The minute she slipped it on, it felt like joyful happiness that I want to feel and for everyone to see.”
Renowned jewelry designer Neil Lane shared how special it was to create the ring for Gerry and Theresa. He described the ring as a symbol of their affection, future, and lives together, making it very meaningful.
In their emotional Good Morning America interview on April 12, Gerry revealed that they had many heartfelt conversations about their relationship and living arrangements. They ultimately decided to end their marriage.
“We just feel like it’s best for the happiness of each of us to live apart,” Gerry explained. Despite the separation, he insisted he still had love for Theresa, saying, “I still love this person. There’s no doubt in my mind.”
During the interview, the couple held hands and acknowledged that they are both still looking for love, just not with each other.
