Former Counting On stars Jill Duggar and her husband, Derick Dillard, recently shared tragic news via Instagram. Sadly, Jill recently delivered a stillbirth baby. The announcement came as a double shock, as the TLC couple had not yet publicly revealed they were expecting.
Jill and Derick have been married since 2014. They share three sons: Israel, 9; Samuel, 6; and Freddy, 21 months. Let’s take a closer look at the bereaved parents’ devastating Instagram message.
Jill and Derrick issued a joint message announcing the stillbirth of a baby girl.
On April 13, Jill and Derick posted a joint message on Instagram. “💔It is with heavy hearts that we announce the stillbirth of our beautiful baby girl, Isla Marie Dillard,” they captioned a photo of themselves holding and looking down at a bundle of blankets cradling their daughter. “Jill was 4 months pregnant (due in August) when we found out that our baby died in utero.”
They shared that their family was ‘so excited’ to welcome baby Isla.
“From the moment we found out we were pregnant, we couldn’t wait to meet our baby,” Jill and Derick continued. “Isla was much loved from the start, and her 3 big brothers were so excited to introduce her to their world.”
The bereaved parents ended their message with a request: “We appreciate your prayers as we continue to grieve and heal from the loss of our little Isla Marie. 😭🩷”
Some Duggar family members shared messages of support.
Jill’s younger sister, Jinger (Duggar) Vuolo, wrote, “Love you so much, sis. Continuing to uphold you all in prayer. Sweet little Isla will be missed. 💔”
Cousin Amy (Duggar) King also left a heartfelt comment. “Isla Marie such a beautiful name and meaning. Praying continuously,” Amy wrote. “God has a plan through all the heartbreak. You’ve been on my mind and in our prayers and will continue to be. 💕 We love y’all so much.”
Plenty of Instagram followers also expressed their condolences.
“I’m so sorry for your loss. I can only imagine. Covering you guys in prayer. 🤲🏻,” one fan wrote.
Another Instagram follower commented, “I am so sorry! Our hearts are breaking for you.”
“I’m so sorry Jill! I’ll be praying for you and yours💔,” someone else shared.
Jill suffered a previous miscarriage.
In October 2021, Jill and Derick revealed that Jill had a miscarriage during the first trimester of pregnancy. “💜We recently found out we were expecting our third baby. We were thrilled! However, a few days later we started miscarrying 😭,” Jill shared via Instagram. “💜We love & miss you River Bliss!”
A few months later, Derick and Jill announced they were expecting their “rainbow baby.” Freddy was born on July 7, 2022.
