When Counting On was canceled in 2021, Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar and their 19 kids faded into a life of relative privacy (aside from their eldest son Josh’s widely followed trial, of course). This includes their second-oldest son, John David Duggar, and his wife, Abbie.
In November 2018, John David and Abbie married during a wedding ceremony that aired on the TLC reality series. They welcomed their first child, a daughter they named Grace, in January 2020. In the years since Counting On ended, John and Abbie welcomed a second baby, a son they named Charlie. They have also posted sparingly on social media, which is why fans were pleasantly surprised when the couple recently shared a rare family photo.
John David and Abbie posted a rare family photo on Instagram.
John David and Abbie took to Instagram on May 9, sharing a snap of their little family. “Enjoying some Florida sunshine on a work trip for John!,” they captioned the photo, which included Grace and Charlie. In the image, Abbie and John rocked sunglasses while their kiddos wore swim outfits.
In the comments, fans reacted to the adorable picture.
One person wrote, “Beautiful family picture. Grace and Charlie are cute as can be.”
“The only normal Duggars,” another Instagrammer declared.
Someone else commented, “Oh my goodness- your kids are too cute❤,” while another echoed, “Those smiles could light up any state ❤️🙌❤️.”
They posted a different photo of their kids for Easter.
On April 1, the day after Easter Sunday, John and Abbie shared a photo via Instagram of their family all dressed up for the holiday.
“Happy Easter!” they captioned the snap. In the shot, Abbie wore a purple dress and John sported a gray suit with a blue polka-dotted tie. Charlie donned a precious blue suit, and Grace looked darling in a multicolored dress.
Could this be the start of more regular kid updates from John David and Abbie?
A quick look at their Instagram grid reveals they have already posted two photos of Grace and Charlie so far in 2024. But in 2023, they only shared two photos of the kids for the entire year. Perhaps the Duggar family scandals are far enough in the past that they finally feel comfortable sharing more of their lives.
In other John and Abbie news, the couple recently accomplished something new together.
On April 22, John and Abbie posted a photo of themselves posing near a road race finish line while sporting medals around their necks. “This was our 1st 5K to run TOGETHER!!!” they captioned the snap. “Pretty sure it won’t be our last! #5krun.”
It looks like John’s younger brother, Jeremiah Duggar, might have joined them on the run, as Jeremiah’s wife, Hannah, commented, “Love this!!! Let’s do it again! ❤️”
Meanwhile, another Instagram user wrote, “Yall are so cute! Congratulations!!! 🎉 Sounds like there’s more fun to come!”
