Dolly Parton Announces Retirement from Touring: A New Chapter Begins

Exciting news for fans of Dolly Parton! The Queen of Country has finally confirmed what many have been speculating—she is likely done with live performances at the age of 76. However, this doesn’t mean she will stop entertaining altogether. In an interview with Pollstar, Dolly shared her plans for occasional unique shows, festival appearances, and performances over long weekends. A full-fledged tour, however, is no longer on the horizon.

“I’ve been doing that throughout my life, and it takes a lot of time and effort. I like to spend more time at home with my hubby,” Dolly explained. “I don’t want to be gone for four or five weeks at a time; we’re getting older. Something might occur. If I were gone and someone needed me, I wouldn’t feel great about that. Or I would feel bad if I had to end a tour early because someone at home needed me and I couldn’t leave the fans behind.”

It’s only natural for an entertainment icon to respond to the aging process in this way. While Dolly may be reducing her time on the road, she remains incredibly active. She has a myriad of projects keeping her plate full, including her own line of dog toys, new music, movies, and music videos.

One of Dolly’s most notable recent endeavors is her companion piece to the novel “Run, Rose, Run,” which she co-wrote with James Patterson. The accompanying CD, also titled “Run, Rose, Run,” has garnered significant attention. The book became a best-seller, and a movie adaptation is in the works. Excitingly, Deadline reports that Dolly Parton will be joining the cast and serving as a co-producer for the film.

The story revolves around Annie Lee, a talented young musician with aspirations in country music and a troubled past. Throughout her journey, she encounters various individuals who leave a lasting impact, particularly Ruthanna, who takes Annie under her wing.

Even as she works on the movie, Dolly already has plans for her next venture—an album in the rock genre. When she learned about her nomination for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Dolly saw it as the perfect time to delve into rock music. She expressed her excitement about creating a terrific album once she completes the movie.

As fans, we share in Dolly’s excitement and eagerly anticipate what this new chapter in her career will bring. While she may be stepping away from touring, her creative spirit and dedication to entertaining her audience remain as strong as ever.
